Yes, I Was Listening
We, humans, are innately attention seekers. We’d literally do EVERYTHING just to get attention, especially from our loved ones. How could we not? When we’re doing funny things like impressions, we want them to be all eyes on us. Similarly, we want them to be all ears on us when we are talking—- regardless of what the topic may be.
You talk to him about how your day went, what happened at work, and other things, yet he doesn’t seem to be invested. You then decide to ask him if he was listening, and he abruptly responds in the affirmative. Why Is it so hard to listen? Why Is it so hard to just come clean regarding his interest in what you’re talking about? I have no idea.
