#3: T. Rex Is Closer to Us Than to Stegosaurus
Toy shelves have done terrible things to dinosaur time. Put a Stegosaurus beside a Tyrannosaurus rex in plastic, and they look like neighbors from the same prehistoric afternoon. They were not. Stegosaurus lived around 150 million years ago, during the Late Jurassic, while T. rex appeared much later, near the end of the Cretaceous, around 66 to 68 million years ago. The gap between them is larger than the gap between T. rex and us.
