#15: The Pacific Ocean Holds Its Own Antipodes
The Pacific is so large that some parts of it sit directly opposite other parts of itself on the globe. Antipodes are points on Earth that line up through the planet’s center; if you could drill straight down from one, you would emerge at the other. In much of the world, that imaginary tunnel ends in an ocean, a continent, or some distant combination that feels satisfyingly strange. In the Pacific, the ocean is vast enough to answer itself.
