The best revenge is revenge that requires no action on your part. Call it irony, Dharma, or Karma. All we know is that the Karma gods have been busy lately, kicking into full gear. No boastful coworker or old high school rival is safe. When that person who cut you off immediately gets a ticket the world automatically feels brighter and lighter. When overconfident people are put in their place by Karma or the universe, we all smile a little on the inside. There’s just something satisfying about it. During my time working as a hostess, I didn’t have the nerve to pull out a book and act like I had a better place to be (even though who doesn’t?), but one of my coworkers did have the guts. Managers would get upset sometimes but why not make the most of our time while desk-chained?
Using every spare moment to study for college was a priority! I personally love to see a hostess reading at their stand. It’s such an act of rebellion, at least in the food industry, because situations like this story can and do happen.
