Some photos are just meme material. They’re meme-worthy. You see them, and you can’t help but come up with the perfect caption for a viral meme. The Smiling Bolt photo is easily one of these photos. Some other examples include the Success Kid, the Change My Mind guy, the Distracted Boyfriend, the Patrick Stewart facepalm, and of course, the Crying Jordan.
We wonder if Bolt knew this photo would eventually become a popular internet meme when he smiled at this camera during this relay. He probably didn’t realize it would make such an impact on the internet. 2016 was the year Usain Bolt won his third Olympic Gold medal, and it’s also the year he became a viral meme.
