McDonald’s loves to keep up with the times. They implement the latest technology in both preparing food and serving its customers. One time, McDonald’s ran a promotion that used QR scan codes. If your receipt had a winning QR code, you could score a free item from the menu.
One McDonald’s customer lucked out and won free food. However, they didn’t stop there. They took the receipt, scanned it, turned it into a PDF file, and used it in other McDonald’s restaurants to score more free food. Perhaps McDonald’s should have immediately wiped out the QR code after it was scanned. But we don’t feel too bad for this $33.1B company.
