#8: The Rocky Horror Picture Show (1975)
The Rocky Horror Show started as a British stage musical and became a global cult phenomenon. Jim Sharman’s film adaptation, The Rocky Horror Picture Show, introduced the world to Tim Curry’s Dr. Frank-N-Furter, a “sweet transvestite from Transylvania.” A loving parody of old monster movies, the flick was a vibrant celebration of camp, gender fluidity, and pure pleasure. Though it fizzled on its first release, midnight screenings turned it into an interactive ritual.
