Staying safe
If you rent out an apartment in a block then you assume that the landlord has put in place all the necessary measures to keep you and your family safe. Secure handrails, a working elevator, safe balconies, and the fire safety equipment that you might need to use in an emergency.
Well, this isn’t always the case, as you can see here. Although fire safety is completely a landlord’s responsibility, this particular owner has decided that a bottle of water is just fine in case of a fire. Perhaps you could deal with your parched throat as you were running away from the flames.
