Going the extra mile
For some people, once you’ve started a job, you must follow the instructions all the way to the end, no matter the obstacles that may stand in your way. This perseverance can be a very useful trait in some situations, but sometimes it rolls over into sheer stubbornness for absolutely no reason.

Take this DIY job, for example. The tenants were confused when they arrived and started to look around. Installing a picture rail or banister should involve covering the whole relevant area, but who looked at this light switch and thought that what it needed was 2 inches of rail on the other side? It looks as if it’s been framed.
