Half a job
When there is water damage to a floor it’s a big job to fix. The whole floor needs to come up, space needs drying out and then the new floor needs to be laid. It can be costly, and it is definitely time-consuming, so I can see why a landlord might not relish getting stuck into the job.
Doing half a job, however, just sets you up for more work in the long run, as we’ve previously seen. In this case, whilst the tenants might have expected that a new floor would be laid after a leak in the bathroom, what actually happened was a patch job, leaving water-damaged wood in the rest of the room.
