Lacy tablecloths
No-one wants their dining room to feel like their Great-Aunt’s drawing-room circa 1952. Then, housewives seemed to think that they had to cover everything with a protective layer of lace of frills. Heaven forbid you could see the actual surface underneath.
We’ve moved on a long way since then, with better-looking tables that we should want to celebrate in their own right, rather than drape with hard-to-clean lace. Ditch the doily, embrace the actual table surface, and focus on accents such as beautiful placemats instead.
