It’s true! Just when you think the Kardashian family cannot get any larger, it somehow does. In 2018, we welcomed three new Kardashian babies and Kim and Kanye are kicking off 2019 by welcoming their fourth child. Here’s the low down on everything you need to know about baby #4.
Party of 6
Kim Kardashian and her husband Kanye West have just announced they are excited to soon welcome baby #4. No, you didn’t miss something on the reality tv star’s Instagram, she’s not pregnant. The couple is using a surrogate to carry the child. This baby will join siblings North (5), Saint (3), and Chicago (almost 12mo). We were surprised to hear the news because as recently as August 2018 Kim had responded to news of her having another child by saying, “I don’t know, I don’t know, I read that, I read something…none of that was true.” In any case, WE ARE SO EXCITED!
Why they chose a surrogate
Kim and Kanye also used a surrogate for their baby Chicago. Kim very publically endured two difficult pregnancies and was open about discussing her experience on her show Keeping Up With The Kardashians. Kim suffers from placenta accreta, a condition in which the placenta grows too deeply into the uterine wall, making Kim’s future pregnancies too risky to carry herself. No word on who the surrogate is, and we don’t expect to know either- Kim and Kanye kept that info tight under wraps with their surrogate for Chicago, and they certainly understand how important privacy is to the gestational carrier herself.
A Positive Message
Kim even had a scare while pregnant with her daughter, North West. The star and beauty mogul had pains and felt she likely had miscarried the pregnancy. “I flew all the way home on Thanksgiving and the doctor told me, ‘There’s no heartbeat. You had a miscarriage. Let’s get through it, come in after Thanksgiving dinner, it will be private no one will be in here,’” She continues, “I went in that morning and he’s like, ‘there’s a heartbeat, you didn’t have a miscarriage.'” Undoubtedly incredible news. Kardashian’s honesty about her pregnancies and her use of a surrogate are bringing a positive awareness to what many women go through on the journey to becoming mothers.
What’s in a name?
Should we start a poll about what Kim and Kanye will name their fourth baby? They have already chosen the names North, Saint, and Chicago, so it’s pretty hard to guess what could be next. Chances are they aren’t going to go with Kim’s hometown of Calabasas (as they did with Kayne’s hometown Chicago), but maybe an ode to Kim’s Armenian heritage? The baby is reportedly a boy, though Kim and Kanye are yet to confirm it themselves, so until then, we’ll brainstorm both girls and boys names. In 2018, top baby names included Olivia, Sophia, and Amelia for girls, and Jackson, Liam, and Noah for the boys, so maybe one of those? Or perhaps a nice K name like Kim and Kanye (and Kourtney, Kylie, Kendall, and Khloe)- maybe Kiera, or Karlie for a girl, or Kade or Kai for a boy? We shall see soon! The baby will reportedly make his debut in Spring of 2019.
Kardashian cousins (kousins ?)
The Kardashian clan has seen quite a few new additions to its ranks this past year. Including Chicago (12 mo), Stormi Wesbster (11 months), Kylie Jenner and Travis Scott’s daughter, and True Thompson (8 months), Khloé Karashian and Tristan Thompson’s daughter were born in 2018. The Kardashians seem to only increase in numbers. We wish Kim, Kanye, and all the Kardashian kiddos all the health in the world, and we can’t wait to see what else is in store for this famous family in 2019.
