#24: Smoking
Picture a time when smoking cigarettes was common in places like airplanes and hair salons. In the 1950s, the harmful effects of smoking were unknown to many. Popular TV shows like Mad Men depict scenes where pregnant women smoke and drink whiskey, unaware of the risks. This era of ignorance highlights a striking contrast to our current understanding of health.
In contemporary society, there’s been a significant decline in smoking, particularly among millennials, many of whom choose not to start. While vaping has gained popularity among younger generations, its long-term impacts remain unknown. It’s a hopeful wish that we don’t see a repeat of history, as we navigate these modern smoking trends.
