The Phone Call
For a couple of decades now, or since the invention of the cellphone, phone calls have been an inseparable part of our lives. We call our family and friends just to check up on them and chat, even if we don’t have anything important to say. Making a phone call is a pretty simple, straightforward thing, right? Well, not to most introverts. Having to take a phone call or make one can be a very hard and uncomfortable thing to do. It takes us out of the comfort zone.
As most introverts would tell you – if it is not an emergency, then a text message is more than enough. When you hear that phone rings, or you know you have to make a call, it’s usually accompanied by a minor anxiety attack. Most introverts have to even prepare what they’re going to say beforehand. There is also the mental aspect; we have to psychologically prepare ourselves for the call.
