Stumped by the Ocean
Nature has its share of “strange finds” that leave us utterly shocked and confused. This OP was just strolling on the beach when they spotted this rather absurd-looking gelatinous object and posted it online since they’d never seen anything like it. Apparently, these are squid eggs and it’s best to not touch or disturb them in any way.
Female squids lay their eggs in clusters that consist of these two-inch-long, gelatinous capsules that look like fingers. These masses are communal, meaning more than one squid plants eggs in them and each capsule could have up to 200 eggs. Nature never ceases to amaze us!
