Books
If you’ve ever watched Pawn Stars, then you’ll know just how crazy expensive old books can be. You might have also noticed that they look a lot gloomier than modern books. Mold and wear aside, books from the early-1900s looked incredibly boring, even if the pages were filled with funny stories of anthropomorphic characters.
Now, we have books that are deceivingly cheerful. You can find advanced calculus textbooks with a cheery person on the cover who looks like they were held at gunpoint and forced to smile for the camera. Some people swear by e-books for their environmentally-friendliness, but studies show that reading books leave longer-lasting effects on the reader.
