Grocery stores
You’ve probably heard stories of old grocery stores from your grandparents. They probably told you about how few item selections there were, how small the stores were, and how everybody would chat up the cashier. There weren’t long lines, so nobody was impatiently tapping their toe behind you.
Modern grocery stores are packed with all sorts of goodies, from millions of salty snack options to freshly-baked pastries. They sell meats, but the butcher or fishmonger behind the counter probably knows less than you about certain cuts. Also, today’s grocery stores have to pay a fortune in overhead costs due to all the lighting, cooling, and cleaning.
