Football helmets
American football has been around since the early-1890s. Since then, it’s become the most-watched sport across the country. If you’re into professional sports, you’re probably tuning into the NFL more than you are the NBA or the PGA Tour (seriously, who watches golf?!).
Back in the day, football helmets were nothing but thick pieces of leather that couldn’t protect a watermelon from breaking open, let alone stopping someone’s skull from cracking. After years of research, manufacturers finally settled on a design that adds better protection to both the cranium and the face. Still, American football remains a much more dangerous sport than rugby and ranks up there with boxing in terms of brain injury cases.
