Never, Ever Disturb a Cow
Earlier, we spoke about how cattle are revered in India, but we believe this deserves more attention. For Hindus, cows are a physical manifestation of one of the most important deities, Aditi, who is believed to be the mother of all gods. From the four legs to the horns, everything about the animal almost perfectly portrays the high god.
This has sparked controversy among the Hindus in India and the Muslims in India and Pakistan, their neighbor. In fact, there’s a huge illegal cattle trade that crosses the border. If you’re ever caught eating beef outside of certain towns, you could face up to ten years in jail.
