Not Very Many Burqas
Roughly 204 million citizens in India are of the Islamic faith, which comprises 15% of the country’s total population. If you get your news about Islam from certain unreliable sources on TV and the internet, then you’ll probably identify the women by how they’re almost completely covered in black garb (burqas), even when it’s scorching hot out.
That’s not the case in India. Muslim women in India come in all colors in terms of their clothing choices. Many of them also keep their faces uncovered, though they still wear a traditional headscarf to cover their hair. India is home to the second-highest number of Muslim citizens after Indonesia.
