Bigger Is Always Better
There’s a saying in India about food: the bigger the meal, the better the meal. Indians have mighty appetites and are proud of it! Thali, which is simply a standard meal, is more than Anna could handle before she became accustomed to it. The server will bring your dish on multiple steel plates.
The plates contain rice, bread (or one or the other), various sauces, colorful curries, and chutney. After swallowing your main course, you’re usually free to choose between sweet candies or a hot cup of tea. Best of all, a typical lunch will cost you just about one dollar. You can stuff your belly two or three times for just about one hundred pennies!
