#25: Born in a Barn
The cool kids looked for the barn, not the golden arches, when they were hungry. Red Barn was trying to be the next McDonald’s. They had characters similar to those in McDonaldland, and the Big Barney was their version of the Big Mac. But the food was so good! Apparently, some locations even let you build your own sundaes. Does McDonald’s let you do that? Their ice cream machine doesn’t even work half the time!

Sadly, Red Barn closed its doors in the late 1980s, though some locations rebranded to “The Farm.” The last “The Farm” location in Wisconsin closed in February 2020, so it wasn’t even the pandemic that did it in. Maybe someday, the barn doors will open again.
