Jennifer Connelly then
American actress Jennifer Connelly began her career in the mid-seventies as a child model. In 1984, she landed her first acting role – at the age of 14 – in the crime film Once Upon a Time in America, starring Robert De Niro. In 1985, she appeared in the horror film Phenomena and in 1991 she starred in the comedy Career Opportunities.
Her success continued into the nineties and 2000s, and it was in 2000 that Connelly gained critical acclaim and widespread attention for her role in the psychological drama Requiem for a Dream. Although she had already established a name in Hollywood by that time, many critics consider this to be Connelly’s breakthrough role as an accomplished actress.
