Salma Hayek then
Salma Hayek was born in Mexico and that’s where she started her acting career. In her early twenties, she moved to Los Angeles to pursue her career in Hollywood. Despite her limited fluency in English, Hayek landed a minor film role in 1993 and was discovered by two film producers, who later gave her the lead role opposite Antonio Banderas in the highly-acclaimed film Desperado (1995).
Thanks to her memorable performance in Desperado, Hayek has earned a name in Hollywood, and throughout the decade, she starred in a number of blockbusters, including Quentin Tarantino’s From Dusk till Dawn (1996), Wild Wild West, and Dogma (both 1999). In 2000, the talented actress expanded her career to film production and started her own production company.
