Crawford became interested in modeling during high school, and she dropped out of college after one semester to pursue a modeling career. During the nineties, the model as made over 500 cover appearances on magazines including Vogue, Cosmopolitan, People, Elle and more, and walked the runway for the biggest names in the industry, including Chanel, Versace, Dior, Dolce & Gabbana and others. With time, the mole above her upper lip became her trademark, although when she had just started her career, the mole was frequently removed from her editorial photos.
