It brings a tear to my eye to have to put Tower Records on this list. Perhaps no transition is more symbolic of the rapid progression of time as is the transition from analog music players to digital ones. Tower Records survived the change from vinyl to cassettes to CDs, only to be vanquished by streaming services.
