#21: Henry I of England (1068 – 1135)

Henry I of England was known as the “Lion of Justice,” but he had a very messy personal life. He married Matilda of Scotland in 1100 to help secure his throne, but he was never a one-woman man. He holds the record for the most illegitimate children of any English king; at least twenty-two of them. While his wife worked hard to run the country while he was away, he was busy starting families with dozens of other women across England and France.
