Building a giant statue is difficult, but building it on top of a 2,300-foot mountain peak is another thing entirely. The Christ the Redeemer statue in Rio de Janeiro was an incredible feat of engineering for its time. The pieces were designed and created in France, then shipped to Brazil. Getting the concrete and steel pieces up Corcovado Mountain required a small railway. This photo highlights the huge challenge of assembling this masterpiece in such a difficult location.
