
Growing up in the 1980s was a different time. There were a whole bunch of rules that we had to be careful to follow in the house, and any infringement upon said rules could lead to the worst of punishments. Some of them seemed arbitrary, but others were surprisingly efficient. Gen Xers out there, I hope you’re reading this, because it’s time to go back and take a look at the rules that governed our childhoods.
#1: No Touching the Thermostat – Ever
It’s possible that some of you grew up with parents who were honest about why various rules existed. I didn’t. In my house, pretty much every rule was in place ostensibly to protect us from some sort of life-threatening danger. Specifically touching the thermostat could definitely end very badly.
