I don’t mean to be too cold about a really terrible situation, but I have to make one insensitive observation: If you want to be remembered for some heroic act, don’t take part in it with two other people. Your chances of being remembered by name have immediately decreased by a lot.

Not only do we have less chance of remembering each hero individually, but we also have less chance of remembering any of them because the task seems unmanageable from the outset. However, there is no downplaying just how significant their heroics were.
