Everyone (or mostly everyone) learned about the German enigma codes after the award-winning film The Imitation Game, starring Benedict Cumberbatch. Or at least everyone thinks they do. They don’t know that half of the people responsible for breaking the code apparently didn’t even feature.

It’s pretty classic of the British to center everything around their own stories and completely ignore the non-English-speaking world. The poor Polish scientists who changed the Second World War will never get the wide recognition they deserve because they weren’t subjects of the mighty British empire.
