Most people who can look back on the 1960s, ‘70s, and ‘80s of rock will do so with a bit of nostalgia and ever-lasting memories. You might even still have the ticket stubs of the numerous concerts you went to with your high school and college friends! But how many of you can say that you’ve taken your dedication to rock music to the next level? By that, we mean traveling with your favorite bands from place to place, getting into trouble with the members, and even somewhat becoming a part of rock history? Here are 50+ groupies who have become nearly as famous, sometimes even more famous, than the bands they stanned.
Bebe Buell
Bebe Buell took her obsession with her favorite rock band several levels beyond her contemporaries. When she was just 15 years old, she was affiliated with Paul Cowsill. Her name spread like wildfire around the rock n’ roll scene, and she eventually found herself with the likes of David Bowie, Mick Jagger, and Steven Taylor.
She was discovered by Eileen Ford upon graduating high school, though she moved to New York from Virginia in the hopes of becoming a singer. Bebe was featured on November 1974’s issue of Playboy magazine as Playmate of the Month, which was what caught the eye of the rockstars from the 1970s and ‘80s.
