39. One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest (1975)
One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Next is a film based on a novel of the same name. The novel was somewhat controversial when it was released, as some parents were insisting it should be removed from schools due to some of the more mature material it contained. This has been a recurring event throughout the US for decades.
The film, upon release, was also not without its critics, but even with the reservations, it was often praised. In 1993, it was acknowledged as “culturally, historically, or aesthetically significant” by the US Library of Congress.
