16. No Country for Old Men (2007)
No Country for Old Men has an interesting history in its creation, as it was originally written as a screenplay by Cormac McCarthy before he switched it to a book instead. This led to critics claiming it lacked the usual quality of his other novels.
The book was published in 2005, then adapted into a new screenplay by the Coen Brothers and released as a film in 2007. While the novel would have something of a mixed reception, the film would go on to win four academy awards.
