#9: Van Gogh’s Poppy Flowers disappeared from a Cairo museum twice
Vincent van Gogh’s Poppy Flowers, painted around 1886, has disappeared twice from Cairo’s Mohamed Mahmoud Khalil Museum. It was stolen in 1978 and recovered in Kuwait, then vanished in 2010 when someone cut it from its frame. Poor security contributed to the theft, and a mistaken recovery announcement added confusion.
