Through these two applications, Google claims that it has photographed 98% of the places inhabited by humans on this planet. These two satellite-powered services changed the world forever in more ways than one. With such a massive and impressive network comes odd and wonderful quirks. Try as Google might to be objective, there will always be humans around to make things weird. From mysterious men in horse masks to sweet memorials of times past, Google Maps has accidentally captured some extraordinary things. We’ve put together the best of the weird and wonderful moments that are forever immortalized by Google Maps.
#1: A Sweet Memorial
Google Maps is a very useful tool that most of us use to get around. However, there is another, more poignant use for Google Maps. This person discovered an old Map view of their property that featured a photo of their beloved dog, who had passed away a few years ago.

There she is, passionately chasing after the Google car with all her might. The OP shared that they sometimes look back on this old photo and smile. It’s odd to think that a publicly available, utilitarian tool such as Google Maps can also serve as a scrapbook of sorts. This is a perfect example of technology being wonderful instead of weird.
