#18: Down in the Dumps
This guy was having a rough day, and Google Maps was there to capture it. How sweet. He took the phrase “down in the dumps” literally and was found chilling in a trash can in the Parc de Valency in Laussane, Switzerland. This odd image didn’t gain fame until the 2020s when The Google Earth Guy TikTok account found it and posted a video.

The origin story of this man and how he ended up in a trash can is still unknown. If you want to see it for yourself, you can plug in the coordinates 46°31’44.0”N 6°36’48.5”E, and it will pop up in Street View. You can even “walk” by him along the path on Google Maps. Even weirder, this portion of the Parc de Valency hasn’t been re-photographed since that fateful day in 2010.
