Good historical movies that still got history wrong

300 (2006) adapted Frank Miller’s graphic novel 300 (1998), itself based loosely on the Battle of Thermopylae in 480 BCE. The film portrays Spartans as near-superhuman warriors facing monstrous enemies. Historians noted exaggerated costumes, invented details, and the near erasure of thousands of Greek allies who also fought there.
