It’s not what it looks like!
At first, we had no idea what we were looking at. It looks like a section of a tree that was cut off with a saw of sorts, but that doesn’t explain where the blood is coming from. Perhaps there was a grisly lumberjack accident, and some poor fellow is missing a limb or something. Thankfully, that’s not the case.
This section actually comes from a dragon blood tree, also known as a Dracaena cinnabari. The tree’s resin is naturally blood-like in color, but it’s safe for humans in small quantities. We’re not sure how constitutes “small quantities” of tree blood, but we’ll never have to find out.
