Remember when our parents told us not to talk to strangers? Obviously, it was for our own good. It’s easy to determine when someone is up to no good in person but what about those that lurk in our inboxes and social media accounts? As the world continues to digitize, scammers are finding smarter ways to trap innocent people. Take a look at these common scams people fall for and try to avoid them at all costs!
Running Late for an Interview
Some scammers prey on people’s kindness to get money out of them. This guy was at a gas station when a young fellow in a shirt and tie walked up to him and told him a sob story about how he was running late for an interview and didn’t have enough money for gas.
The kind-hearted OP not only wished him luck but also filled up his entire tank. Naturally, he felt good about helping a stranger out but this feeling was short-lived when he saw the guy pull this scam off multiple times over the next couple of months. What a shame!
