Staring straight ahead to “part the seas”
If you live in a busy city, you might find yourself mumbling, “Excuse me,” or “Pardon me,” every time you’re about to bump into someone. As polite as it is, it’s not the best way of getting around, especially if you’re in a hurry. Don’t even try to be polite when roaming the crowded streets of New York City!
Instead, just stare straight ahead as you walk. Keep your neck and back straight, and look ahead of you as if nothing else matters. People will subconsciously notice that you’re in a hurry and make room for you. If you do bump shoulders with someone, look back as you walk and offer a quick apology (gotta be a little polite, right?).
