Using the power of “because”
Asking someone to do something is never easy, especially if you don’t have power over them (a child requesting something from a parent, a subordinate from a boss, etc.). However, adding a “because” in your request can sway the person to do what you want without them even knowing.
The human mind is always trying to find justifications for all kinds of actions. By adding a “because” in your request, you’re providing another person with a solid, objective reason to do something you want. For instance, “We need to focus on the report because the deadline is tomorrow” has a better chance than saying, “The deadline is tomorrow. Let’s focus on the report.”
