Avoiding people by not looking at them
Let’s say you just came out of a convenience store wearing your ugliest sweatpants, hoodie, and you haven’t shaved since January 2019. Right as you get in line to pay, you notice that the girl of your dreams is standing nearby in the next line. If you don’t want her to notice you, do your best to avoid looking at them.
This trick works nearly 100% of the time, provided that you don’t run head-on with the person you’re actively avoiding. We subconsciously notice people looking at us, and our response is to look back. Sadly, this trick doesn’t work in the classroom. The more you avoid your teacher’s glance, the likelier you’ll be chosen to answer his or her question.
