Getting someone to stop talking
We all know at least one person who can go on and on without realizing they’ve spoken for an entire half-hour. While these people don’t mean any harm, it can be hard for us to get a word in. To stop them mid-sentence long enough for you to begin talking, drop something that won’t break onto the ground. Car keys are a great example.
The clinging sound of your keys hitting the ground will get the nonstop talker to cease immediately, effectively breaking their train of thought (hopefully). In that brief moment of silence, take it as a cue that you should start talking.
