Listening to classical music to retain information
Research shows that listening to classical music or music without lyrics can improve academic performance. Lyric-less songs trigger a part of our brain that helps us retain information for longer. This technique can be especially helpful if you’re allowed to listen to music while taking an exam.
On the other hand, music with lyrics is more disruptive than it is helpful. While studying, our minds tend to gravitate toward distractions, so we’ll begin paying more attention to the lyrics than our studies. At least, that’s how it works for most people. Some people with Eminem rapping in the background. That’s fine, too.
