Beating The System
This is a story from the long-forgotten days of the humble landline. Usually, everyone used the same device but if you were lucky, your parents would let you have your own extension in your room. This OP found a rather clever way to use this to her advantage when she was out past curfew.
She would simply call her own home and when her mother answered, she would tell her that the call was for her. Basically, she would fool her mom into thinking she was in her room and sneak back in later. Thankfully, she was never caught or else we’re sure she would have been grounded for life.
