Making Friends Is Hard
Making new friends can be challenging for introverts because getting to know someone takes so much energy. On the other hand, introverts do not require a large group of friends. Even if they know many people and have many acquaintances, they prefer one or two close friends. Despite this preference, introverts are frequently chastised for failing to make more friends and for having poor social skills.
Introverts require a lot of privacy. They tend to favor being alone in a room with the door shut, and those who do not understand introverts believe that this desire to be alone is a sign of depression. This behavior, however, is normal for introverts; it is not a sign of withdrawal from life. Because being around others exhausts them, they require time alone to recoup some of their energy.
