Introverts dislike crowds because they are made up of strangers. Many introverts are apprehensive about social interactions. It could be due to their less developed social skills when compared to extroverts. That is not to say that introverts cannot have advanced social skills. However, compared to the extrovert’s social skill default, the introvert’s social skill default is likely less sophisticated. Because extroverts derive energy from interacting with others, socializing comes naturally to them.
Extraverts have had far more opportunities to develop social skills and social awareness as a result. Perhaps part of the introvert’s fear of social encounters stems from their inability to rely on their social skills as much when the other people are unpredictable. This could be because the introvert’s social skills aren’t always fluid enough to deal with unexpected social situations.
