It’s All in the Tears
More than a decade ago, the Calgary International Film Festival came up with a series of billboards showing strangers crying. Don’t worry, they didn’t hit these people in the toe with hammers or anything like that. The film festival’s committee was just breaking their hearts by handing out rejection notes to aspiring directors and filmmakers.
What made these billboards such a (somewhat) massive success is the realism of the fake tears. Those tears weren’t just blobs of epoxy; they were actual large droplets of water that came out of the billboard. If you stood beneath these billboards, you could’ve gotten wet by one of these tear droplets.
