#16: Jack the Clown (Jack in the Box, 1950s-1980, Revived in 1994)
Jack in the Box’s mascot was literally a jack-in-the-box. There was also a version used like Ronald McDonald, which was nothing more than a cartoon clown. But by the ‘80s, they realized they couldn’t compete with Ronald. So they literally blew him up in a 1980 commercial.

But Jack survived, reinvented himself, and came back as Jack Box, a businessman wearing a clown head. In his 1994 commercial return, he blows up the Jack in the Box boardroom, getting revenge. They don’t make commercials like they used to. Jack Box has since been the mascot for Jack in the Box, as I don’t think anyone wants to risk blowing him up again.
